summer marches on... part 3

We went to the King Couty Fair... where we looked at animals, tractors and quilts. We ate Cotton candy while listening to country music and took really cute photos of Lynn wearing my cowgal hat :)
David let me take his picture with my new tripod and Teresa came up to visit which means having LOTS of fun. We made ice cream... 4 batches of ice cream- each a unique flavor (oatmeal cookie dough, orange swirl, blueberry colada and cake batter) we made doctor who t-shirts, and watched chick flicks :) it was a blast! To clebrate Labor Day, Jonathan and the kids and I met my parents to hike to a waterfall, David loved it and did an impressive amount of walking.. I am quite proud of that boy of mine. The waterfall was impressive too :)

Summer Part 2

Memorial Day... was well, memorable :) We followed tradition by meeting the family for Breakfast then heading out to Dallas- Oregon to remember those who had gone before us, we placed flowers at headstones and reminisced, we walked and talked and were thankful- it is always a happy day :) Skip June and we got to celebrate Independance Day! July was beautiful and sunny. The cardboard regatta was a blast with some fantastic triumphs and even better catastrophes :) We watched the parade and my adorable children were candy magnets- much to joy of all us "grown ups". We ate, we walked, we played games, we listened to music and then... the Fireworks- as only Longview knows how :) Happy 4th of July!

Summer...part 1

Lots of fun things happened while I was out and about and clearly to busy to write about them... Jonathan got to go to Niagara Falls while on a Business trip... while the kids and I stayed home and spent some quality time at the zoo :) The Clouded Leapards had cubs, so we had a lot of fun visiting them a lot so we could watch them grow :)

Way back in May....

We went to the beach house with Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Larry, we wandered seaside, enjoyed cannon beach and marveled at haystack rock... we found tidepools to amaze David with and had an all around fantastic time :)It was relaxing and fun and I can't wait to go again!

A Brief attempt at food bloggery...

I had a brainstorm a few days ago following success with a spiraled herb-cheese bread, and today I gave it a whirl :)

The basic plan was to modify a baguette recipe to use with sourdough then during the part where it is rolled up before the final rise I would add sandwich fixings for a spectacular hot "dinner roll". What I put on it was this: a combination of pepperjack and cheddar cheeses, fresh chopped spinach, crumbled bacon and sautee'd mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and smoked deli turkey. It all got rolled into the dough to create a spiral of gooodness. I will call it a family friendly success, both my husband and son enjoyed it and while the stuffing weighed down the bread a bit and kept it from rising as much as I hoped, the bread was light and fluffy and the sourdough gave it just the tang it needed to stand up to the filling :)

David had LOTS of fun dyeing easter eggs with his friends... we took the pretty ones to Longview to share :)

Jonathan's mom's side of the family- what a wonderful blessing it is to have such great relatives in our lives and our kids lives!

Here is our Family to wish you a very Happy Resurrection Day! Sorry about the cute 3 year old, he is insanely shy.

Me and my baby girl :) I love that she has my hazel eyes!

Daffodil Parade

We had fun heading to the daffodil parade, it was nice enough to enjoy it thouroughly and David had a blast watching the parade and eating cotton candy. The first few floats and bands got David so excited, that he yelled "I like THAT one!" several times :)
Enjoy!
