We Remember

Growing up my parents would occasionally talk about what they were doing when Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon. It was a great day in American History. I think that every generation will have its own national "I remember day." 5 years ago I woke up to continue working on my quilt, with the knowledge that I wouldn't be able to afford college that year. I woke up after my parents left for work and my brother and sister were already at school. Mom left a note telling me to turn on the television because America had been attacked. So amidst stacks of colored squares I watched the Twin Towers collapse under the weight of passenger planes. The lives of every person in America had changed. While we have participated in wars that affected every American family it had been a long time since our nation had been under attack on our soil. It all changed in a matter of minutes. No one was prepared for the loss of loved ones, the American Citizens in the World Trade Center were civilians; fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters. Each one left believing that it was going to be a regular day at work. The Personnel stationed at the Pentagon were caught equally unaware to the danger the day held. We were not at war, we were completely shocked by the attack that hit us 5 years ago, and now we must remember why it is that we fight overseas to protect our nation, our parents and children must be kept safe here while our American Soldiers fight for us.
Thank you to all who serve and who have served the United State of America, may God Bless you everyday. To the families and friends who lost someone they cared for 5 years ago, May God Bless you and keep you, and give you His Peace.
God Bless America!
