Quinault Rain Forest
We had a wonderful 4th Wedding Anniversary! We started by heading to the Olympic National Forest to check out the Quinalt Rain Forest, The drive was pretty nice, even though it rained off and on... we passed an odd bit of Ranchland that held not only cows but the LARGEST Metal reproduction of a cow we have ever, or wanted to see before. There were 3 of these behemoths and I wish I had a picture to show. The Gargantuan structures made the real cows look like so many mice at their feet. Any how, once we arrived at the park it was still raining but we decided to trek the first path all the same to see what wonders we could find, it was impressive! The trees were massive, the running water was so powerful- it was stunning! about half way through the .6 mile trail the rain stopped almost completely which made for an even more pleasant day. After the first hike we drove a bit to a trailhead to see a waterfall, and while there was a tad bit more climbing- we were thankful that we encountered nothing like the grade on Mt Saint Helens. My anniversary present was a new camera- and the waterfall gave me the ideal opportunity to play with it a bit. I was able to slow the shudder speed down and capture the movement of the waterfall. (The new cam boasts 10 megapixels, 12X zoom and allows either auto digital of I can take full control of Shutter and Aperature, plus some fun settings like Natural light, and panoramic) Our last stop was to see the World's Largest Spruce Tree- then it was time to head to Olympia to enjoy dinner at the Outback Steakhouse.
