I like Golf!

Today Jonathan and I went golfing with my friend Dawn, from work, I was impressed by how much I enjoyed the game. It was a satisfying combination of relaxation and challenge. The sport itself is rather diffucult there are a lot of rules to keep track of and it takes a lot of skill to get the ball to go where you want it to in a limited number of swings. On the other hand the course itself is beautiful and it is really enjoyable to take a walk through the manicured lawn and the beautiful trees. Dawn's husband is in the Air Force so we were able to play on the Mchord AFB golf course. It is just gorgeous. I am sorry to say that while I remebered to bring my camera I left it in the car while we were playing and therefore did not get any pictures, but since I have determined to try the game again I will endeavor to remember to bring the camera with me on the course. While we were playing we saw a really pretty deer, a young buck as well as squirrels and geese. I managed to hit my ball into a pond, but it landed on the edge and I was able to fish it out. Jonathan landed a couple into some sand traps, but did an impressive job getting them out. Near the end the wind got a bit chilly so once we finished we headed to Starbucks for hot cocoa and coffee, respectively. Then after a quick tour of the base we went to Olive Garden for dinner and had a great time.
So that was my golf adventure! (If you're curious, technically I won, based on the "you don't count anything over 9" rule)
I am now looking for a good garage sale deal on ladies golf clubs, so if you see any, let me know :)
By the way, I got to use pink golf balls, which is just cool, because I am a little bit of a pink fanatic ;)

God Bless!

Joy's Baby Shower

Jonathan and I went over to Dan and Joy's house Saturday night and went to church in Seattle and got back to her place to set up for the shower.
Once we were ready and people started to arrive the guys (Jonathan, Dan, Joy's dad and Dan's dad) all went to a driving range to be "manly". LOL

I managed to collect a large amount of baby pictures from the guests and we started with the "guess the baby" game so that people could get to know each other a bit. Joy won because she already knew everyone (and her mom, her grandma her aunt and her female- in laws were all there :) I made a cake and we had fruit and veggies and Costco Turkey wraps available for munching the whole time. For prizes I filled a basket with different things that the winner got to pick from. There were flip-flops, a cute coffee mug, a starbucks card, a little candle, and cute flower pot with flower shaped sugar cookies in it, a fun clock and a picture frame.

After the baby picture game we split up a little, to do 2 activities at once. I had fabric markers and fabric paints and all the onesies out on a card table and baby food (with the labels covered) on the counter. I gave everyone 12 spoons and they had to taste the food and guess what they all were so we all bounced back and forth trying the baby food and decorating onesies, it worked well cause it wasn't too crowded in any one area. Anna did the best on guessing the baby food. Then we had Joy open gifts... there were so many cute things! Her grandma hand-knit an adorable blanket and some tiny little sweaters and hats. She loved the bibs and burp blankets and the booties that the Ferguson girls made :) She loved the quilts too. It was really cool to see the hand-made stuff and then of course all the store-bought baby clothes were adorable too! After that everyone had to pick a boy name and a girl name and she had to pick her favorite (the winner was Fiona and Shrek submitted by her sis-in-law, and runner up was my mom) After that I picked door prize winners and managed to get rid of all the extra prizes.

Then we cut the cake and hung out chatting as people slowly left according to their schedules. The guys got back in time to get some cake and then it was just down Jonathan, Dan, Joy Anna and me. We got the place cleaned up and played a game of settlers (it was Anna's first time so she teamed up with Jonathan and beat us in record time!) They got to 10 when the rest up us only had 5! We didn't even see it coming. Then we drove Anna home and saw her new apartment, she just moved in with Kristin. and drove home and went to sleep (at about 10:30) -we were so tired! But it was really fun and Joy said that she felt sufficiently showered :)
